BOWIE... 2B MIKE FONTENOT connected on a solo home run in his final trip to the plate to finish the first cycle in over five years for the Baysox, who dropped a 9-6 decision to Altoona August 22. With a single, a triple and a double in his first three at-bats, Fontenot already had his 11th three-hit game of the year after just four innings. After flying out in the sixth, the 23-year-old drilled his 10th home run of the year leading off the eighth to become the first player for Bowie to hit for the cycle since Decomba Conner accomplished the feat on May 14, 1998. Fontenot, who set a Baysox record earlier this season by reaching base safely in 43 straight games, recorded his second four-hit performance in six games...

2B JERRY HAIRSTON homered and drove in two runs in an 11-2 triumph over Harrisburg August 26. Hairston, who made his first rehab start since breaking a bone in his right foot on May 20, smacked an offering from Josh Karp over the left field wall for just his third home run in pro ball this season. OF MELVIN MORA also appeared in the contest, going 1-for-4 with a run scored. Mora appeared in his first minor league game since 2000 because of a bruised right hand. RHP DAVE CROUTHERS pitched six scoreless innings of one-hit ball for the win....

FREDERICK... DH DOUG GREDVIG clubbed a three-run homer to highlight a six-run fifth inning as the Keys beat Lynchburg, 12-4, August 26. It was the first home run with the club this season for Gredvig, who began the year with Bowie before missing three months with back problems. Gredvig hit 20 homers with Frederick in 2001 and 14 with Bowie last season...

LHP SHAUN BABULA went 4-0 with a 1.90 ERA in 17 games July 18-August 26 (23.2 IP, 23 H, 7 R, 5 ER, 7 BB, 27 SO)...
