Georgia
1998-99 record
15-15 overall, 6-10 SEC (lost to Clemson in NIT first round)
Coach
Jim Harrick, first year at Georgia; 403-182 overall
Projected starting lineup
G Moses White, 5-10, Fr.
Not much of a shooter so far, but gets on the floor because of quickness and ball-handling ability. Like all of Dogs' perimeter players, needs more conditioning to play in Harrickšs system.

G D.A. Layne, 6-10, So.
The only proven commodity on the roster, Layne is leading returning scorer at 12.7 per game, streaky shooter who can bury a team when he's hot.

G Adrian Jones, 6-5, Jr.
Redshirted last year and played only 8.2 minutes per game two years ago because of chronic foot injuries; will be counted on as Bulldogsš perimeter defensive stopper.

C Anthony Evans, 6-7, Jr.
Has been Bulldogs' most impressive newcomer so far, plays hard and can score with either hand around the basket; adds much-needed toughness inside.

F Shon Coleman, 6-6, Jr.
Junior college product looks like he could come close to filling Jumaine Jones' shoes at times, but needs to be more consistent; runs the floor well.

Top guy off the bench
C Robb Dryden, 7-1 Jr.
Could be a difference-maker if confidence reaches potential. Looked good in exhibition opener (15 minutes in 18 minutes), but the key will be maintaining it.
Key Newcomer
G Ezra Williams, 6-4, Marietta, Ga.
The 27 points he averaged while leading his high school team to the state title last year aren't doing the Bulldogs any good on the bench. A failed test has kept him out of practice so far. He will take the test again on Nov. 15. Georgia needs this guy.
Key Games
at North Carolina State (Nov. 19). A season-opening win over a quality team is exactly what Georgia needs.
at Mississippi State (Jan. 5). Under former coach Ron Jirsa, Georgia always started SEC horribly; winning this year's opener would be nice.
vs. Florida (Feb. 23). A win over nationally-ranked rival would give Bulldogs something to build on.
Outlook
Georgia won't be as frustrating for its fans to watch because the Bulldogs will play smarter and with a more focused effort. However, the Bulldogs could be more fundamentally sound and just better overall and not improve on last year's record because of Division I inexperience and a tough schedule. Harrick, who has been to 10 straight NCAA Tournaments, and his players say their goal is to make the Big Dance this year. That's probably a little optimistic for a team that wasnšt good last year and lost 72 percent of its scoring, 73 percent of its rebounding, 74 percent of its assists and 82 percent of its starts from last year. But, under Harrick, therešs now hope Georgia will get back eventually.
