Iowa State
1998-99 record
15-15 overall, 6-10 in Big 12.
Coach
Larry Eustachy, 15-15 (one year), 174-101 overall (nine years).
Projected starting lineup
G Michael Nurse, 6-1 Sr.
Led team with 47 3-pointers last season in first year of D-I ball.

G Kantrail Horton, 6-1 Jr.
May be team's most talented perimeter player.

F Stevie Johnson, 6-4 Sr.
Solid all-around performer who led team in assists (93), steals (41) and tied for lead in rebounds (7.6 per game).

F Paul Shirley, 6-9 Jr.
Sat out entire season because of a stress fracture to his pelvis.

F Marcus Fizer, 6-8 Jr.
Star post player led league in scoring (18.0 ppg) but grabbed only 7.6 rebounds per outing.

Top guy off the bench
F Martin Rancik, 6-8 Jr.
Long-range bomber with nice stroke (87 percent foul shooter) and 10.3 ppg average.
Key Newcomer
G Jamaal Tinsley, 6-3, Brooklyn, N.Y./Mount San Jacinto (Calif.) CC
With his East Coast street game, could become on of the league's most exciting players.
Key Games
Hosts in-state rival Iowa (Dec. 11) in one of few non-conference tests.
Outlook
Has to improve on 1-15 conference road record if it wants to earn an NCAA bid, its first since a trip in 1997 ended a run of three straight under Tim Floyd. Fizer will again dominate and defense, which led the conference in points allowed, will again be strong. Should be better than .500 and on NCAA bubble.
