Penn State
1998-99 record
13-14 overall, 5-13 Big Ten
Coach
Jerry Dunn, 63-51 (4 years at Penn State), 63-51 overall
Projected starting lineup
F Gyasi Cline-Heard, 6-7, Jr.
Averaged 7.6 ppg on 56.8 percent shooting while starting 13 games last season.

F Jarrett Stephens, 6-7, Sr.
Led Big Ten with 64 percent shooting in 1997-98 before sitting out but two games last season with a knee injury.

C Carl Jackson, 6-9, Sr.
Started 11 games but averaged just 12.2 minutes per game.

G Titus Ivory, 6-4, Sr.
Averaged 8.3 ppg last season as a starter.

G Joe Crispin, 6-1, Jr.
Seldom sees a shot he doesn't like.

Top guy off the bench
F B.J. Vossekuil, 6-9, Fr.
Big body should help fill rebounding void left by Booth, could start and leave Cline-Heard as the sixth man
Key Newcomer
G Brandon Watkins, 6-0, Fr.
Exceptionally quick point guard should see plenty of action.
Key Games
Penn State will have difficulty surviving its Philadelphia trips, playing Villanova, Penn and Temple. Temple will try to make Nittany Lions pay for last season's 65-64 upset. No breaks in the conference's 16-game rotation as the Lions play Michigan State, Ohio State, Illinois and Indiana twice and the one game with Purdue is at West Lafayette.
Outlook
The Nittany Lions were a disappointment last season, not able to finish better than .500 and make the NIT despite the presence departed seniors, guard Dan Earl and center Calvin Booth. Penn State couldn't get it done in crunch time, losing seven league games by a total of 23 points. This version of the team should be more athletic than last season's team.
