Projected starting lineup

F Brian Cardinal, 6-8, Sr, Scrappy competitor averaged 11.4 ppg and a team-high 5.5 rpg last season. F Mike Robinson, 6-6, Sr. Tremendous disappointment last conference season (3.7 points) who will try to return to his sophomore form. C Greg McQuay, 6-7, Sr. Tries to fill center's role with great leaping ability. G Jaraan Cornell, 6-3, Sr. Solid shooter needs others to step forward from outside to ease defensive attention. G Carson Cunningham, 6-1, Jr. Needs to drastically cut back on his turnovers (61 turnovers compared to 37 assists).

Top guy off the bench

G Maynard Lewis, 6-1, So. will fill in at both guard spots. Gained experience as top scorer on Big Ten's traveling team to Europe this summer.

Key Newcomer

G Kenny Lowe, 6-3, Fr. Is an excellent defender who also averaged nearly 23 points a game in high school.

Outlook

If the Boilermakers can find the chemistry and perimeter shooting they was missing during the Big Ten season, they should have no trouble finishing among the top four teams and perhaps returning to the Sweet 16 for the third season in a row. Must also improve its rebounding in league games. Count on Cornell and Cardinal to be steady forces, but Robinson and Cunningham must end their inconsistent ways for this team to really excel.
