Wisconsin
1998-99 record
22-10, 9-7 Big Ten, lost to Southwest Missouri State in NCAA East first round
Coach
Dick Bennett, 69-54 (4 years at Wisconsin), 429-243 overall (23 years)
Projected starting lineup
F Mark Vershaw, 6-9, Jr.
Will have to pick up scoring (7.0 ppg) from last season.

F Maurice Linton, 6-8, Jr.
Averaged 12.5 minutes last season.

F Andy Kowske, 6-3, Jr.
Returning starter must stay out of foul trouble.

G Roy Boone, 6-7, Sr.
Junior college transfer is a good penetrator and defender.

G Mike Kelley, 6-3, Jr.
Had a superb assists-to-turnover ratio (86 to 20) last season.

Top guy off the bench
G Jon Bryant, 6-2, Sr.
made 46 of 119 3-point shots coming off the bench last season.
Key Newcomer
G Kirk Penney, 6-5, Fr.
Is good jump shooter and should add some scoring punch.
Key Games
Nov. 12-13 vs. Missouri then Syracuse or Princeton
Nov. 30 at Wake Forest
Dec. 7 vs. Texas
Dec. 29 vs. Temple
Outlook
Wisconsin captured a school-record 22 games and made a second consecutive trip to the NCAA tournament. Unfortunately, the backcourt of Sean Mason (16.8 ppg) and Ty Calderwood (9.3 ppg) has graduated. Those were the team's top scorers so Bennett will be looking for increased production from several different sources. Bennett might play a larger rotation than has in the past. The Badgers will be solid defensively, as that's Bennett's trademark. Last season they held opponents to 40.8 percent shooting.
